Public Outreach Plan Posted

The public outreach plan has been finalized and is posted here for review. It contains a summary of the public input received throughout the month of April, 2011, which included public meetings, focus group sessions, interviews and an online survey. The appendix contains letters received during the outreach phase.

Independence Lake Preserve Blog Website

Welcome to the Independence Lake Preserve website. This website contains information about the recent purchase of the property around Independence Lake by the Nature Conservancy (TNC).  The Truckee Donner Land Trust (TDLT) is a partner in management of the property. This website will also be the main location for information related to gathering public input on the recreation and access management plan for the preserve.

New articles and information about Independence Lake will be updated throughout 2011.

Feb. 28, 2011 Meeting

A meeting was facilitated at the Sierra Nevada Conservancy office between representatives of The Nature Conservancy (TNC), Congressman Tom McClintock’s office, and Sierra and Nevada Counties to discuss process and public outreach in TNC’s development of a management plan for Independence Lake.  Two resulting items are attached: a list of meeting attendees with contact information, and a statement from Congressman McClintock which was delivered by Rocky Deal.
